Splack 8.0 on Netra 105 and Javastation

About SplackI have Splack 8.0 installed and running on a Sun Netra T105 which has 256MB RAM and using a serial terminal.
It seems to be working as it should but I want to be able to run X so I can use it with PC-Xware. If I run startx It says can't open /dev/tty0.
I also want to use it with a Krupps Javastation which is why I installed Splack in the first place. The Javastation says no dhcp response received. Is there a simplae way I can at least test my Javastations? BTW, they are version 3.11 which I have read can't be booted from linux.

Firstly your X problems :-
Unlike Solaris, the Linux implementation of X requires that you have a graphics card, even if you will always use X remotely. ISTR that there was a "dummy" version somewhere but I have never tried it.
I am not an X guru, you might like to ask somewhere more appropriate. Maybe easier to just fit a frame buffer card.

Now for the Javastation :-
It seems that you are either not running a correctly configured DHCP server or that you have more than one DHCP server on the network. When I try to debug something like this I make a special isolated network and use tcpdump to see what is happening.
There is a sample dhcp.conf in the README file
ftp://ftp.splack.org/pub/splack/splack-8.0/javastation/README
You will obviously need to change the MAC address and IP details to match your system.

If your JK series javastation is fitted with a 501-4732 or 501-4733 Flash SIMM this may need to be removed.
